. . . surrounded by gloomy dead fish, chunks of cheese and a turnip that split open, mysteriously . . .

Or

. . . you might be bright company to the only other spot of color in a still life of strange vegetables . . .

  1. . . . and I’m honestly not sure what’s going on with the fish in front, on the first painting. It looks almost as if it’s growing little bunny paws or something . . .
